I did it! I started the One Room Challenge eight weeks ago, and I decided to remodel the kids’ bathroom. For reference, this is what the bathroom looked like to start! And I kept the cost below $1,000!

My daughter wanted a fancy room… and she requested pink. The vintage Barbie framed art was already in her nursery, so after a couple of DIY projects, this is how it turned out!

I found a dresser I loved for this room, but I did not like the price (around $4,000). I found a few other dressers I liked, but with shipping delays and backordered furniture, I decided to try to make a dupe. I built a base and added legs and hardware, and voilà!

The last few weeks of pregnancy can be anything but predictable. One aspect that is in your control is having your hospital bag packed early and efficiently. Pack early! Keep it simple! Try to limit the last minute items to throw in the bag in a hurry…

Terrifying? Exhausting? No thanks, I’ll just stay home? Agreed. But as someone who took 35 flights with my daughter before her second birthday and now traveling with two kids, I have had plenty of opportunities to fine tune my travel hacks… And I can tell you the key to traveling with kids is ORGANIZATION.

I would guess that this is a task almost everyone dreads. I have put off cleaning out my email for months and months, but waking up to 80+ spam emails every morning and then dozens of email promotions throughout the day, most of which I never read, got out of control. If nothing else, I hope this post prompts you to clean out your email!

Thanksgiving is a month away and I put together a timeline to help get organized for the holiday! Whether you are hosting a larger gathering or keeping it small this year, getting things done ahead of time allows you to actually enjoy the holiday.

Thank goodness this turned out well. This. Project. Took. So. Much. Time. And. Effort. Honestly, I LOVE this room (I even had someone working on my home ask about my beautiful “wallpaper” and I almost fell over because I was so excited); but I am not sure I would tackle this project again.

I needed to brighten our primary bathroom, but I was not ready to tackle the entire project. So, I started with the toilet room…A DIY project popped into my head- what if I painted some kind of pattern onto the walls to liven it up??

What a headache. That’s all I really need to write about a playroom, right? The problem with a playroom is the minute it’s tidy, they mess it up. Immediately. Every time. I have come to the realization that the playroom is such a daunting area because of the amount of stuff and categories of stuff paired with no where to put everything. Clean up takes forever and keeping it even somewhat organized seems impossible.

My daughter loves to read books and I wanted to incorporate a reading area into the playroom makeover. What better place than an otherwise wasted space in a dormer window nook? On Instagram, I saw a light trick to add a light fixture without hardwiring a light and I thought I would try it here.

One of the hardest parts about playrooms is the sheer volume of items (big and small) and all of the different categories of toys. This IKEA KALLAX unit makes it easy to come up with a system to divide and conquer all of the toys, which I love.

This unit creates a cohesive look with the other furniture pieces I have done in this room and allows for a lot of storage. Not surprisingly, I wanted to jazz it up a bit to make it look more customized. But this was a pretty straightforward and easy project.

I am used to traveling often, and gosh I missed it over the last year. While travel has not quite returned to normal, more travel seems to be on the horizon. Here are my favorite travel products that can help you stay organized while traveling… in hopes that (safe) travel is the near future for you too.

Kids. have. so. much. stuff. And inefficiency in any closet can be a total waste, but especially in a child’s closet. It is so easy to avoid the clutter and live with it in disarray. I certainly did. I used to make sure the door to the closet was shut because that was the only way for me to try to ignore the disorganization. But now, I have a system that is working to keep the space organized.

So, my IKEA kick continues. I updated two IKEA MALM dressers to make them nightstands for the guest room/playroom project. Again, as a novice DIY-er, I am very proud of how they came out and I learned quite a bit. And as nightstands, they have so much storage!

When I started Mrs. B. Organized, I did not intend to jump into the DIY world. I knew I would do some projects myself, but I did not imagine I would learn how to use a table saw, or watch dozens of how-to videos on how to install a new ceiling light, or know what a pocket hole jig is, or even know the IKEA store layout as well as I know my grocery store…

For this space, I took everything out, categorized/donated/threw away what I could, relocated items that did not belong, and put the items back into the closet. That’s it. I did not buy any products. I did not put every item or category in a corresponding container. I wanted to make this a simple, easy project that I could cross of my list…
