VINTAGE BARBIE ROOM
My daughter wanted a fancy room… and she requested pink. The vintage Barbie framed art was already in her nursery, so after a couple of DIY projects, this is how it turned out!
Here are all of the sources I can find for items in this room:
Bed (linked here - although I will note that the gold was more yellow than gold so I used Rub n’ Buff to make it silver)
Dresser (for details see Mrs. B dresser dupe post)
Nightstands (linked here, plus I added hardware similar linked here)
Desk (linked here, plus I added hardware to match the closet linked here)
Desk chair (linked here)
Lamps (linked here)
Dress up rack (for details see Dress Up Clothes Rack post)
Jewelry box (linked here)
Pillows (linked here)
Curtain rod (linked here) (similar linked here )
Curtains (linked here)
Clock (linked here)
Acrylic sunglasses stand (linked here)
Flower pot (linked here)
Closet (for details see IKEA PAX Custom Closet post)
Vintage Barbie pictures are original Barbie Fashion Model Collection by Robert Best.
I made the book shelves from 1x4s, 1x3s, and spray painted copper pipe!
Any items not listed are either from TJ Maxx or antique stores.
See my post on my first attempt at picture frame molding (Coming soon)!
One thing I will say about the organization of this room is that everything has a place, or a “home.” This room rarely gets messy because we know where everything belongs. It eases the burden on me because she can help put things away, keep her room clean, grab something she needs on our way out the door, etc. I tried to create “zones” throughout the room so its easy… dress up zone, book zone, shoe zone, school clothes zone, on and on. And as she grows and her room changes, or something isn’t quite working, we can change it up and reorganize. Organization, especially with kids, isn’t something you do once and you’re done. It requires time and effort. But when you have a system that works, like in this room right now, it makes everyone’s life easier!
